—Recording the Successful Second Airbag Blasting Test of Qingdao Yongtai

The early days of March in the year 2010 were bitterly cold.

However, the spirits of the Evergreeners in the blasting team at Qingdao Evergreen Maritime Co., Ltd. were continuously heating up.

The intensive preparations, which had been underway from March 1st to March 3rd, had come to an end.

The blasting test of Evergreen’s high-strength airbag, with a diameter of 2.5 meters and an effective length of 10 meters, was set to take place in Evergreen’s three-acre courtyard.

At 8 a.m. on March 3rd, all the “experts” had arrived, and Mr. Yu, the person in charge, announced the commencement of the world’s first large-scale airbag blasting test.

The tense yet orderly work drew praise from all those present; as water surged into the airbag like a joyful song, after a day and a night, the entire length of the airbag had increased by thirty centimeters, resembling a giant dragon lying horizontally across Qingdao Evergreen, much to the astonishment of those present. After another day and a night of water injection,  Qingdao Evergreen’s high-strength airbag remained unscathed, merely increasing in volume and length by another thirty centimeters, leaving the onlookers breathless with fear.

For safety reasons, we invited the leaders and visiting personnel to the second production base to await news, while all workers were given time off just in case. Only a few experienced and fearless engineers from the blasting team remained to continue the operation.

At 9:36:48 a.m. on March 6th, a spring thunder announced the success of the test. A massive column of water shot straight up into the sky, reminiscent of a satellite launch.
